Elton John Troubadour Concert 1970
This video clip features Elton John
performing at Doug Weston's Troubadour
nightclub in Los Angeles in 1970. The
career-launching performance is depicted
in the Rocketman movie. Taron Egerton's
character launches into the air at the
Troubadour concert, doing a handstand as
he plays the piano while the audience is
simultaneously lifted off their feet,
floating into the air with him. Of course
this is all symbolic, but it does
represent the moment when Elton John
became a sensation, especially in America.
The moment was inspired by his infamous
piano handstand, whereby he jumps into the
air and keeps playing as his body is
momentarily parallel (or greater) to the
ground.
