1936 US Olympic Rowing Gold Medal Race Footage

As Hitler watched, the US Olympic Rowing Team got off to a horrible start in the men's eight Gold medal race. With the crowd shouting "Deutschland," the US found themselves in the back of the pack by the middle of the 2,000-meter race. Suddenly, Don Hume, who had been battling a respiratory illness, picked up the pace, propelling the team to the front of the pack and a Gold medal win.
