Doug White's Speech and Reunion with the Air Traffic Controllers
Doug White gives a moving speech at a
National Air Traffic Controllers (NATCA)
ceremony in 2010. He honors the air
traffic controllers who helped to save his
life and the lives of his wife Terri and
daughters Bailey and Maggie after the
pilot of the King Air 200 (N559DW) they
chartered died suddenly. Doug also honors
pilot Kari Sorenson for his invaluable
input on how to fly a King Air 200. In his
speech, Doug talks about how the
controllers used their ingenuity and
split-second decision making to instruct
him on how to land the plane. He describes
their actions as standing in sharp
contrast to government bureaucrats, who
are far too slow and ineffective at
solving problems.
