Frank Mundus Sets Record for Largest Shark Ever Caught by Rod and Reel
On August 6, 1986, Frank Mundus and Don
Braddick caught a 3,427-pound great white
shark roughly 28 miles off the coast of
Montauk, New York. Mundus had his pick of
roughly six to eight great white sharks
that were feeding on a dead whale.
Controversy surrounded the catch, with
some insinuating Mundus had killed the
whale that the sharks were feeding on.
