Pain Hustlers Trailer
Starring Chris Evans and Emily Blunt,
Pain Hustlers tells the story of
high-school dropout Liza Drake (Blunt),
who finds success at a pharmaceutical
start-up that becomes embroiled in a
criminal conspiracy. The Netflix movie was
inspired by Evan Hughes' 2018 article
The Pain Hustlers, which appeared
in
The New York Times Magazine.
He later expanded his expose into a book
titled
The Hard Sell: Crime and
Punishment at an Opiod Startup,
published in 2022. Zanna Therapeutics, the
company at the center of the movie, is
based on a real startup, though its name
was changed for the movie.
