Peterloo Movie Trailer
On August 16, 1819, a group of some 60,000
protesters gathered in Manchester
England's St Peter's Field to demand that
their voices be heard in parliament.
Radical orator Henry Hunt, a
long-supporter of universal suffrage,
spoke at the demonstration. The cavalry
was sent in to arrest hunt and then
disperse the crowd. They charged with
their swords drawn. In the ensuing chaos,
15 people lost their lives and roughly 600
were injured.
