Sydney Sweeney stars as controversial NSA document leaker Reality Winner, who was a member of the U.S. Air Force and an NSA translator. Winner leaked an intelligence report to The Intercept regarding Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. She was subsequently arrested by the FBI and sentenced to five years and three months in prison on August 23, 2018. In 2021, she was released early for good behavior. The Intercept has been blamed for publishing the document unredacted, including with the printer tracking dots, which is one way Winner could have been exposed.
