Society of the Snow Trailer

Directed by J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible), Society of the Snow recounts the 1972 crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes, particularly how a group of survivors struggled to stay alive in hopes they'd be rescued. The flight was carrying a total of 45 passengers, including 19 members of a rugby team, as well as their friends, families, and supporters. The movie is based on the book of the same name by Pablo Vierci. The doomed flight was previously the subject of the 1993 film Alive starring Ethan Hawke. That film was based on Piers Paul Read's 1974 bestseller Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors. Related Article: Society of the Snow: History vs. Hollywood
