Togo stars Willem Dafoe as
Leonhard Seppala, whose dog Togo was task
with leading a sled team to Nome, Alaska
in 1925. What became known as The Serum
Run involved the transporting of
diphtheria antitoxin to the remote
northern town, which was facing a
diphtheria epidemic. Most people are more
familiar with the other lead sled dog,
Balto, who completed the final stretch of
the journey to Nome.
