Welcome to Marwen Movie Trailer
Robert Zemeckis directs Steve Carell in
the story of Mark Hogancamp, subject of
Jeff Malmberg's 2010 documentary
Marwencol. Hogancamp was brutally
attacked outside of a bar by five men who
nearly killed him. He was in a coma for
nine days and spent 43 days in the
hospital. With little memory of his life
before the attack, Hogancamp was unable to
afford therapy and looked for a way to
deal with the lingering effects of the
trauma. He constructed a 1:6 scale
WWII-era Belgian town in his yard and
populated it with dolls that represented
himself, his friends, and his attackers.
Hogancamp named the town Marwencol. The
Welcome to Marwen trailer finds
Hogancamp (Steve Carell) turning to the
characters in his town to help give him
the strength to confront his attackers.
