Winston Churchill's "Be Ye Men of Valour" Radio Speech to British People
In his first radio broadcast to the
British people on May 19, 1940, Winston
Churchill attempts to give a positive
report on the perilous situation in
France. At the same time, he calls for
"furious and unrelenting assault,"
stressing the "imperious need" for "more
airplanes, more tanks, more shells, more
guns." He talks about the looming threat
of invasion and waging war until victory
is won.
